Manufacturing Apprenticeship Programme

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has selected the MIC-IT to be the premier training provider for its Manufacturing Apprenticeship Programme (MAP).

The MAP is an apprenticeship course designed to provide trainees with the necessary competencies in various occupational areas related to the field of Mechatronics and engineering. Graduates from this programme will demonstrate competence in a wide variety of skills and knowledge related to the Manufacturing and Non-Energy sectors.

Renewable Energy Apprenticeship Programme

MIC-IT is expected to collaborate with The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and The University of the West Indies to carry out research and development projects in RE. The Centre, which is staffed by experienced Engineers, Master Craftsmen and Technicians (with both local and German training qualifications) will deliver relevant and real-world training. CREATe is therefore poised to establish apprenticeship training programmes between the private and public sectors to achieve sectoral and national objectives.

Woodworking Apprenticeship Programme

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has selected the MIC-IT to be the premier training provider for   the Apprenticeship Programme for the Wood and Wood Products Manufacturing Sub-Sector (Woodworking Apprenticeship Programme or WoodAP).

The WoodAP is an apprenticeship course designed to not only fill the existing gaps but will seek to transform the wood and wood products sector to deliver higher value added products as the Programme will upskill apprentices in new and emerging woodworking processes. WoodAP promotes technological advancement through the adoption of new technology such as AutoCAD, CNC Machining and personal tablet devices and the introduction and use of new technological machinery for the development and printing of woodworking designs. The ability to produce products higher up the value chain provides the opportunity for increased revenue to be generated by the sector.

The Apprenticeship Programme for the Wood and Wood Products Sub-sector builds on the MIC-IT Level II Certificate in Joinery under the National Skills Development Programme (NSDP) which aims to produce skilful, competent, creative and innovative joiners who can work well in the industry and become successful entrepreneurs.

Yachting Marine Apprenticeship Programme

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has selected the MIC-IT to be the training coordinator for its Yachting Marine Apprenticeship Programme (YMAP).

This Programme aims to prepare trainees in specialised skill areas with the competencies to troubleshoot, service, maintain and repair marine vessels used within the yachting and related industry.

The Programme will comprise ten (10) specialisations based on the skill competencies this sector requires in Trinidad and Tobago.
