The MuST Programme is here to stay” was the theme of the repositioning ceremony of the Multi-Sector Skills Training (MuST) Programme from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education to the Metal Industries Company (MIC) Limited. In his address, Senator the Honourable Fazal Karim, Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education, indicated his Government’s commitment to building the human capital of Trinidad and Tobago. The repositioning of the programme was in keeping with the Ministry’s strategic direction in enriching and creating synergies between its programmes and agencies.

Mr. David Lee, Chairman of MIC, exclaimed that “The MuST Programme is here to stay” and gave notice that the Board had approved FIVE CYCLES of skills training: two cycles of Hospitality and Tourism; One cycle in Tobago; and two cycles of Construction Level 2 training. These Cycles will be launched within the next two weeks.

Mr. Montgomery Guy, Interim National Co-ordinator of the MuST Programme stated that with the MuST Programme now being a programme of MIC, there was a symbiotic relationship between the MuST and HYPE programmes in construction occupation skills training. The HYPE programme will provide nine months training in a workshop and classroom setting, developing the social and technical skills of its trainees at Level 1, and the MuST Programme will receive those trainees, where they will now be exposed to actual work-site training geared toward Caribbean Vocational Qualification Certification at Level 2.

The Board of Directors and Executive Management of MIC welcome the MuST Programme to the MIC family.
