A Workforce Assessment Centre (WAC) is defined as a skills assessment and recognition facility designed to increase access to and participation in Post Secondary Education and Training, using a system of Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) to assess and certify competencies gained through non-formal means.
The development and creation of Workforce Assessment Centres, is an initiative of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education in support of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s (GORTT) Policy Framework for Sustainable Development. The National Training Agency’s role is to coordinate, implement and monitor the process of assessment and certification of individuals that are skilled but uncertified.
